رونماییِ کتابِ “باغ‌وحش شیشه‌ای” نوشته‌ی تنسی ویلیامز ترجمه‌ی علی ثابتی‌پور

On Monday, December 15, 2025, on the occasion of Research and Technology Week, a book launch event for “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams, translated by Mr. Ali Sabetipour, was held with the presence of Dr. Hamed Habibzadeh, Dr. Zohreh Gharaei, and Dr. Mohammadfarid Rastgoufar. This session was organized in collaboration with the English Students’ Association and the Central Library of the University of Kashan.

At the beginning, Dr. Hamed Habibzadeh referred to the play’s debut performance in 1944 in Chicago and discussed the enduring significance of the work. After noting the characteristics of the characters, he addressed the concepts of loneliness, failure, resorting to imagination to escape reality, weariness from unwanted responsibilities, and a sense of internal suffocation throughout the narrative. He described the play as a poetic drama with enduring symbolic imagery that reconstructs memories through a distinctive mode of expression.

Next, Dr. Zohreh Gharaei referred to the previous translations of this book. Dr. Gharaei examined the translation of the work from the perspective of two prominent approaches in retranslation: Berman’s retranslation hypothesis and intertextuality. Afterward, while explaining the necessity of this retranslation from the viewpoint of both approaches, she referred to the conditions that make retranslation justifiable or even necessary.

Following that, Dr. Rastgoufar analyzed the work from the perspective of Persian language and literature and discussed the importance of appropriate tone, orthographic rules, and standard language in translating a literary work. He also presented examples of the translator’s caution in reviewing and analyzing previous translations of this play.

Mr. Ali Sabetipour, referring to the deep understanding gained through the experience of performing the play, talked about his memories and motivations in the process of engaging with this play and translating this book.

Finally, the session concluded with thanks and appreciation to the organizers of the event and the dear staff of the Central Library, along with a review of memories and images from the performance of this work in 2013.

در روز دوشنبه، ۲۴ آذرماه ۱۴۰۴، به مناسبت هفته‌ی پژوهش و فناوری، جلسه‌ی رونمایی کتاب «باغ‌وحش شیشه‌ای» نوشته‌ی تنسی ویلیامز به ترجمه‌ی استاد علی ثابتی‌پور و با حضور دکتر حامد حبیب‌زاده، دکتر زهره قرائی و دکتر محمدفرید راستگوفر برگزار شد. این نشست با همکاری انجمن علمی انگلیسی و کتابخانه‌ی مرکزی دانشگاه کاشان برنامه‌ریزی شد.

در ابتدا، دکتر حامد حبیب‌زاده به اولین اجرای این نمایش‌نامه در سال ۱۹۴۴ میلادی، در شیکاگو، اشاره کردند و از ماندگاری و اهمیت این اثر گفتند. ایشان پس از اشاره به ویژگی‌های شخصیت‌های داستان، به مفاهیم تنهایی، شکست، پناه‌بردن به خیال برای فرار از واقعیت‌ها، خستگی از مسئولیت‌های ناخواسته، و احساس خفقانی درونی در سیر داستان پرداختند. ایشان این نمایش را نمایشی شعری همراه با تصاویر نمادین و ماندگار توصیف کردند که با شیوه‌‌ی بیان خاصی به بازسازی ذهنی خاطرات می‌پردازد.

سپس، خانم دکتر زهره قرائی در مورد ترجمه‌ها و بازترجمه‌های پیشین این کتاب صحبت کردند. دکتر قرائی به ترجمه‌ی این اثر از منظر دو رویکرد مطرح در بازترجمه نگریستند: فرضیه بازترجمه‌ی برمان و بینامتنیت. در ادامه، ضمن تبیین لزوم این بازترجمه از منظر دو دویکرد ذکرشده به شرایطی اشاره کردند که بازترجمه را توجیه‌پذیر و یا حتی لازم می‌کند.

در ادامه، دکتر راستگوفر از دیدگاه‌ زبان و ادبیات فارسی این اثر را بررسی کردند و درباره‌ی اهمیت لحن مناسب، دستور‌ خط، و زبان معیار در ترجمه‌ی اثری ادبی سخن گفتند. ایشان همچنین نمونه‌هایی از دغدغه‌مندی مترجم در بررسی و تحلیل ترجمه‌های پیشین این نمایشنامه را مطرح کردند.

استاد علی ثابتی‌پور، پس از اشاره به درک عمیق در تجربه‌‌‌‌ی حاصل از اجرای اثر، در ارتباط با خاطرات و انگیزه‌‌هایشان در مسیر این نمایش و ترجمه‌ی این کتاب صحبت کردند.

در نهایت، این جلسه با تشکر و تقدیر از دست‌اندرکاران این رویداد و عوامل عزیز کتابخانه‌ی مرکزی، همراه با مروری بر خاطرات و تصاویری از اجرای این اثر در سال ۱۳۹۲، پایان یافت.
